Unknown Sperm Donation
Expanding Family-Building Options Through Donor Sperm
Unknown sperm donation allows individuals and couples to build their families using sperm from a donor they do not personally know. Donor sperm is obtained through regulated donor programs and undergoes extensive screening before being made available for fertility treatment.
At The Bridge Fertility, we provide guidance throughout the donor sperm process, helping patients understand their options and choose a treatment pathway that aligns with their family-building goals.
What Is Unknown Sperm Donation?
Unknown sperm donation involves using sperm from a donor who has no personal relationship with the intended parent or parents.
Donors undergo comprehensive medical, genetic, and infectious disease screening before being accepted into a donor program. Patients can then select donor sperm based on the information available through the sperm bank or donor program.
Donor sperm may be used in a variety of fertility treatments, including Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).
Who May Consider Unknown Sperm Donation?
Unknown sperm donation may be an option for:
- Individuals pursuing parenthood independently
- Same-sex female couples
- Couples experiencing severe male factor infertility
- Patients who require donor sperm for medical or genetic reasons
- Individuals who do not have access to a suitable known donor
Every fertility journey is unique, and donor sperm can provide an additional pathway to parenthood when other options may not be suitable.
